It’s official: The world has turned mad! Child ‘pervert’ on the loose in Cambridge

Posted on the Cambridge Evening News website today:

A CHILD flasher has been exposing himself to elderly women on their own doorsteps, the News can reveal. Police have launched a hunt for the young 5ft 2in pervert, who is thought to be aged between 11 and 16. He has been knocking on doors in Cambridge and terrifying pensioners.

The offender is described as white with short brown untidy hair and was wearing a blue-grey sports jacket, dark blue T-shirt and baggy blue jeans. He targeted one elderly woman victim in St Albans Road, Arbury, at around 8pm. And he struck at two front doors in Lichfield Road, Coleridge, the following day at around 9.30pm.

He is still on the loose and police have raised the alarm and asked for information in a bid to track him down.

A LONG OVERDUE RANT ABOUT BT BROADBAND! (Grrr!)

The past two weeks have been a living nightmare on the Broadband connection front. Once again it seems, I have been put on the ‘naughty step’ with BT Broadband. Why? I have no clue… The only possible reason is because I downloaded a FREE audio album from a band in the US, who gave an option to download it quicker and easier via peer2peer.

Now, for those you are not techie, peer2peer is normally the system used by people who download movies and audio illegally from the web. This is also a system that means it takes a third of the time to download a file. The reason for the speed is that I am not trying to download from one source - but instead from many different sources from all over the world - and so in real terms means I am not clogging up BT Broadband’s network for long periods of time and in turn means I am making it easier for others also on the network to use their connection (because if I downloaded the file over a long period of time, everyone would suffer - not just me!).

This is not the first time I have been slapped by BT Broadband for downloading something via a peer2peer system. Last month, I decided I would download a FREE audio book about web marketing via the system, and once again I was put on the naughty step for doing so.

What really miffs me off about this is that BT keep a log of everything I do online, like any Internet Service Provider does / would. So they have a record of who and where I am downloading from. If they were concerned they could check from themselves to see if what I was doing was in any way illegal - but instead they do not.

Finally, as I draw this exploding rant to a close, peer2peer networks and systems are totally 100% LEGAL! The actually system is even used by the BBC, Channel 4, Rev3 as well as many other lawful organisations and individuals wanting to distribute their own legal content (of which THEY own and have created THEMSELVES!) to their audience the quickest way possible. It really gets on my nerves when certain high-management twats who paid too much to waste most of their time on golf courses in the sun, have no idea about real technology and make which effect Joe-norm like you and me.

I suppose the only good part about this is that my household have been ‘out of contract’ with BT Broadband for about 5 months now. Which means that we can turn around at anytime and change providers. The only reason that we have not changed yet is because of the hassle mainly. What is even more amusing is that some numpty from a BT call centre somewhere is trying to get us to sign-up to yet another 18 month contract… Surely if they spent more time actually getting their customer sevice right in the first place - they would not need to beg for our custom!?

End of rant! :oP

Searching high and low…

Working for other people is not exactly my favourite past-time. In fact, when I decided to go for it a few years ago and become self-employed, I thought the whole concept of working for others was behind me. However, as the whole credit crunch thingy keeps strangling the country, and with too many bills to even cope with keep coming through my letterbox, it is obviously time to get moving. Mid Twenties Crisis (Part 3): Sunday Lunch of Realisation

It was another 24 hours before I returned to this puzzle – firstly because I thought this kind of ‘life changing’ decision needed to be conducted in the most sober state possible, and mainly because I realised I was too much of a pansy at that time due to my head hurting too much to read and think at the same time.
